Brakes.

Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} said brake gear improvements are urgently wanted. The revised scheme with the usual R.R. adjustment is in By's hands and is being pushed forward.

The Girling scheme is stopped in favour of the above but it is intended to proceed further with it as soon as possible.

Cooling System.

Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} said this will probably have to be proved out in France as naturally Brooklands cannot be used for this job on this particular car.

Chassis Weights.

Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} reported that about 1 cwt has been knocked off the Bentley weight by attention to "bits and bobs" and no doubt much can be done in this direction by careful study. Weight can be easily saved on such items as Petrol Tanks, Road Wheels and Propeller Shafts.

Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} said this question of weight saving is of the utmost importance and he asked Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} to arrange for someone to specialise on this as a whole time job and to keep in close touch with E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer}

Chain Drive for Timing Gear.

Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} exhibited the timing chain taken from the Cadillac after about 20,000 miles and a new chain for comparison. The used chain has rather more slackness in it due to wear than one would have expected but it is thought that this slackness may not increase rapidly for a good many more miles. The chain will be replaced and progress watched.

Shock Absorbers.

Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} mentioned an arrangement of shock absorbers which had been made up on the suggestion of Leslie.

E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} said that he had examined the scheme and was of the opinion that it showed great promise and it is now being worked out on the drawing board.

Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} instructed that a provisional patent be applied for immediately and By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} put this in hand forthwith.
