R.R. 235 A (100 T) (S.F. 846 6-8-19) G 2460 X.3426 Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} c. to BN.{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} EFC EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}10/F15.4.20. X.3350 RE ENGINE STARTER SLIPPER DRIVES+ X.3426 I trust you are pushing on with the experimental work on the above, and will be able to arrange for instructions to be issued regarding what action should be taken with the present slipper drives which, as demonstrated are unsatisfactory. It is necessary to consider instructions being issued as to what should be down with the cars which are now delivered and those we are now delivering. We beg to confirm arrangements made with you that in the meantime such slipper drives as are unsatisfactory for slipping should have packings fixed so that they are made solid. This we find we have to do as we are now receiving complaints of the slipper drives slipping on post-war cars which are now in customers' hands. We trust therefore that you will arrange to issue some instructions as regards what final proceeding should be taken with this job as quickly as ever possible. Until some definite cure can be instructed - will you please instruct all to be produced solid as we are now doing with those which fail. EP.{G.
