X 8796 EFC. {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} from Wd. {Mr Wood / Mr Whitehead} Wd {Mr Wood / Mr Whitehead} 's Dept. Wd. {Mr Wood / Mr Whitehead} is absent. Wd {Mr Wood / Mr Whitehead} /3/NJ3.6.25. X.4181 - Watford EO.6 Magneto No.77606. The remarks in yours EFC {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} 3/T15.5.25 were duly communicated to North & Sons Ltd. and we are this morning in receipt of a reply from said firm dated 2nd inst. as follows:- "With reference to EO.6 magneto No.77606, we beg to say that we have now tested and examined the machine and found that it was sparking quite O.K. at both high and low speeds in spite of the fact that the pick-up to slip ring brush was retained in its holder. The sparking thus caused has burnt the slip ring and pick-up and these two parts we have renewed. The track of the distributor block required turning and the contact breaker overhauling. "We note that this machine has given very little service and under these circumstances we are carrying out the repair free of charge except the charge for fitting the bakelite pinion and aluminium wheel with the adjustable housing. "We will despatch this machine to you at the earliest possible moment." Will Dn. please see that the above-mentioned magneto is handed to EFC. {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} upon receipt.
