Re Over-Size Tyres. X.917

Mr Plumpton. 27-4-14.

In reply to your memo Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}/HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}25/M6414, please note that I have taken this matter up with Mr Royce and he is of the opinion that the only possible thing for us to recommend is twin Tyres for a car which is too heavily laden for our standard tyres, but they should be avoided on Trials cars and cars with ordinary light bodies and only used when we are obliged to provide larger tyres.

Mr Royce most emphatically states that we are not to suggest a larger diameter of wheel. The over-size tyres when used on a car make the tyre bill excessively heavy and they also seem difficult to procure everywhere, and thus the only alternative left is the twin tyre.

We think it would be a good idea if a circular letter were got out containing part of the above information seeing that you are so constantly requested by customers to state an opinion on over-size tyres.
