611 8. received 18/10/37 rmb. To Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/RC.{R. Childs} BY/RD.4/B.7.10.37. Double Contact Cutouts. We are informed by Production that with the improved iron circuit recently standardised at the same time as the double contacts, it is impossible to obtain conditions set forth in the test specification, due to the weakness of the armature return spring. The production cutouts are cutting in, much too early, and correspondingly, opening much too late. On the experimental set, the standard spring was instructed, and we have had no intimation that this spring was not entirely satisfactory. Can you give us some information please ? This is urgently required as production is affected. BY/RD. | ||
