S.U.Company Ltd., -c- 4th September,1937. (1) Vent hole not drilled, we are to blame in the first place, but it has escaped your inspection. (2) Pole piece .006" out of centre. (3) Delivery valve cage with an uneven tube giving an extra lift in the inlet valve which is noisy. We have also found considerable variation in valve lift in other pumps varying from .026 to .017". When this was modified you agreed to make it .022 - .025". To save returning two pumps to you we have built up the faulty parts in the one pump and made one good one out of two in which faults were found. It is absolutely essential that these High Pressure pumps include all the features that we have from past experience found necessary and a failure of one of these pumps will be regarded very seriously by the administration. We should be glad to receive a pair of High Pressure pump diaphragm assemblies fitted with Neoprene and Fabric diaphragms similar to those supplied for the standard pumps some time ago and which we are testing. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
