The effectiveness of shock absorbers compared to the damping effect of spring leaves on poor road conditions.

noticed if the leaves are rusty, as in that event the damping effect of the leaves themselves is far greater than that of the shock absorbers.

We do not find that the shock absorbers are of any very great value on a really bad road, such as for example, as a road with pot-holes or a series of bad bumps in rapid succession.

If the spring leaves are rusty and not lubricated, then the use or disuse of the shock absorbers will have no observable effect.

We note that Mr Braun tried his car on the bumpy roads in the New Forest; if these roads are really bad and suffer with pot-holes, then we are not surprised that he could discover no difference with the shock absorbers. We think, however, that he
