E.5/HP.6.3.33.

Rear Damper Levers.

Referring to your memo HDX.1/M.28.2.33 and to our memo E.3/HP.24.2.33, we did not wish to suggest that the shock damper lever in one piece with the shaft is costly when considered from the point of view of its own merits.

We prefer this scheme to having a separate lever.

We meant to imply that in scheming LeC.3387 we had the choice of using in one of two standard forgings, namely, the shock damper lever and shaft or the battery box suspension bracket, and we chose to alter the latter because it is a less costly forging to produce.

We do not, therefore, propose to follow N. Sch.3666 as regards the separate lever.

E. {Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer}
