REAR DAMPER LEVERS.

With reference to E3/HP24233., it occurs to us that on the Phantom, J. {Mr Johnson W.M.} 2. and 3., Peregrine, and Bensport, separate outside levers may be used for the rear dampers if they are thought to have a definite advantage from the point of view of cost, as it appears that on the above cars there is sufficient clearance between the brake ropes and the damper body, when the damper is moved in towards the centreline of the car the necessary amount, to accommodate N. sch. 3663. and a separate lever with a boss .900" wide.

We send herewith N. scheme 3666. which shews what appear to us to be the necessary modifications for Bensport and Peregrine.

We do not know whether anything has been done with the J. {Mr Johnson W.M.} 3. type dampers on the 20/25. Would BY. {R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} kindly send us a print if one is available.
