X 2575 Extract from THR1/CB12.7.21. REPORT OF VISIT TO LUCAS ELEC: CO., JULY 11th 1921. At a meeting with Messrs. O.{Mr Oldham} Lucas, C. Breedon, Ireland, and Turner, at Messrs. Lucas Ltd. Birmingham, the following points were under discussion. FUSE FOR 40/50 SWITCHBOX. X.2515. X.4349. A sample switchbox with the R.R. d fuse holders fitted by our Expl. Dept. on the lines suggested by us was submitted. The question of increased centres for the fuse holder and clips was discussed. We agreed to the adoption of the increased centres which saves alteration to existing tools for the connections on the back of the switchboard. Mr. O.{Mr Oldham} Lucas said Messrs. Lucas would probably be in a position to bring the switchboards up to date in respect of fitting R.R. pattern fuse holders, as soon as the new cutouts were ready, also pointing out that at the same time they would change the insulation to Bakelite micarta instead of as at present. They also mentioned that they had succeeded in getting the new cutout to de-operate with a reverse current of .5 amps. The desirability of having the two spare ready-loaded fuse holders distinctly labelled so as to avoid any possibility of them being mistaken as part of the "System" was pointed out, with which they agreed. The question of expense of the clips for carrying these spare fuse holders was discussed. Messrs. Lucas thought it would be very desirable to have all the clips of one pattern, and once the tools were made the saving effected by the adoption of a simpler pattern clip for the two spare fuse holders would not be worth considering. | ||
