S/W. {Sales / Derby Works} EV {Ivan Evernden - coachwork} C. to Rm. {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 1379. Bentley Publicity. Cx {Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager} 16/KW.7.7.39. Reference RmIO/R27.6.39, I believe I am right in saying that Rm {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} at present is in Paris, and I am therefore writing you on this question as no doubt you will be able to answer it. The point is whether, in view of the fact that Castrol oil is recommended oil for Bentley cars, you could arrange for this demonstration to be given on Castrol oil. The reason we suggest this is because Wakefields spend a great deal of money on advertising the results of tests, demonstrations, etc. when Castrol oil is used, and we may get quite an additional amount of publicity through their doing this in the event of our success. If, therefore you could definitely arrange for this first run at Brooklands in the near future to be done on Castrol, and will let me know, we will see that Wakefields are given at the proper time the necessary material for them to announce it in their advertisements should they wish to do so.
