re. 20-HP Chassis 41-G-5. Schmidt.

With reference to Paris Invoices Nos. 16779 and 16706, attached.

These invoices have been perused by Mr. Hives and Mr. Bailey, and Mr. Bailey states that in his opinion the trouble was due to the fault of the driver and was the result of an accident. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} goes on to state that if in any case Rolls-Royce have to pay, it should be considered a Policy item.

In view of this, we take it that it will be necessary for you to submit the invoices to BJ. with Mr. Bailey's remarks, and for your information, we may say that the reference of the memo from Sales Department reporting the damage to this axle, and asking for a report after examination of the broken parts is Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}1/BM/28.12.22, to which you will no doubt refer when writing to BJ.

We are sending a copy of this memo to BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} and Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} in case they wish to make any further report in reply to Sales memo Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}1/BM/28.12.22, and which should accompany your memo to BJ. asking for a ruling as to who should pay the Paris invoices referred to.

EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}/Thn.
