To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} re Mr.Fairey. Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}11/E15.1.30.

You may have heard that Lp.{Mr Lappin} has succeeded in obtaining an order from Mr.Fairey for a Phantom II chassis.

He has of course placed his order based on the performance of one of our trials cars.

Mr.Fairey is, as you know, a high speed driver and talks a great deal about the very high average speeds he is able to maintain from point to point.

The number of the chassis allotted to him is 34-GN which I understand is not due out until the first week in March.

I should be glad if you would let me know what you suggest should be done in the case of this chassis other than advising the departments at W. concerned to see that it is as good from the point of view of power etc. as possible.

For instance, you may recommend that he has the higher rating road springs suggested for Segrave, exhaust heated throttle and the carburetter float chamber modified to take a larger valve opening with a view to preventing any tendency to starvation when running continuously at high speeds.
