Bailey - Chief Engineer}, DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} X6137' E.5/G.29.1.32. ---------- X. 6137. J.III BATTERY. ---------- In reply to Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst.5/AD.26.1.32., it was agreed at Conference with WOR.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} on January 7th, that we should go ahead with a standard substitute for our present 20/25HP. battery, which should be applicable to J.III. The proposed Chloride 6 volt units appear to us to be suitable, and we see no reason why they should not be put in hand. The increase overall length will require allowing for in the design, but we understand there is some room to spare in the present box. We think that some improvement would be welcome in the system of fixing the battery in the box. The present method of wedging it with packings is not very satisfactory and is difficult to withdraw. Some simple form of end clamping plate or bar operated by set screws might be considered. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} | ||
