£300a HOTEL DE FRANCE. CHATEAUROUX. Indre. France. 23rd June 1935. GWH{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux}/3/JAB. To Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} From G.W.H. 3 S I We arrived at Châteauroux last night. On the straight run from Orléans at maximum speed, the Car started to fade owing to the petrol failure. The Oil temperature reached 95°c and Water 85°c, 90°c. We could keep a steady 70 MPH. without failure of the petrol. Today we have examined the failure of B coil and found that the trouble was caused by the breaking down of the Condenser. We have fitted temporary a Phantom old type Condenser. Will you please let us have a Condenser and a spare coil. Upon taking the cover off the Clutch pit, we found that the Flywheel and Clutch pit smothered in oil, never had one like it before. We have made as large a breather as possible. The creaking in front disappears with washing of the Car. We beleive it is due to one of the lever bushes being tight. We are proceeding with Brake adjustments, Oil leaks, etc., ------------ G.W.H. | ||
