4327 To RMG. Copy to BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} RE REVISED SPECTRECodename for Phantom III FRAME. GRY{Shadwell Grylls} We send you herewith a print of LeC 4482 described in our E/Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}1/MN.3.5.35. As explained to you verbally we are anxiousto make some tests as soon as possible to discover the stiffness of this new proposed side channel design. We would like you if possible to build up a frame with the side members in the standard thickness of material .104", but with the hand holes in the inner plate and the distance pieces removed. This frame could be tested for rigidity in a similar manner to the test carried out by Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} on the present frame. It has occurred to us that it might be possible to use the SpectreCodename for Phantom III frame which is now being tested by adding the extra hand holes. We appreciate that there will be a loss of rigidity, but if we can ascertain how much this will be, using the present gauge material, we can estimate whether it will be more than recovered by the use of the heavier gauge.
