BA. } FROM R.{Sir Henry Royce} HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} } C. to SG.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Mr. Feller. WOR.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} OY. ORIGINAL R5/M26.10.29. X772 X1725 re. REPORT FROM PARIS. ACCELERATION - AMERICAN VERSUS BRITISH CHASSIS. I believe that the American RR. bodies are generally now lighter than most European bodies, but I think the somewhat better acceleration observed is due to the lower geared back axle. A car is more sensitive to any change in this direction than one would anticipate. Their engines also have a slightly higher compression than British Sales agree to. I am pleased to hear that the American production is thought to be so good. It appears to have been improving during the last two years. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
