Please note that whenever an engine is run on a test bed before going into a chassis, a temporary clutch driven plate should be fitted, any old plate, or one which has already been oily, will answer for driving the dynamometer. A few used 10" and 11" plates should be reserved for this purpose. The new plate intended for use in the chassis should never be used on the dynamometer on account of the risk of oil getting on it. After removal from the test bed, and before fitting the new driven plate, the flywheel and clutch should be cleaned free from oil. A plate which has once been oil, will seldom make a good clutch.
