8 CYLINDER - SPRING DRIVE.

Referring to Ald{F. Allwood - Experimental Design}'s suggestion for a spring drive for the C.I. engine, in which the flexibility is obtained by the axial sliding of the crankshaft pinion, being suspicious of it, we asked Mr. Bower to investigate. Attached are his remarks.

The mass of the crankshaft pinion is a fundamental drawback. We think the scheme is not worth drawing.
