YORKSHIRE.

For the attention of Mr.T.Whitehead.

Dear Sirs,

Order No.58209

Referring to your letter of the 15th inst., for which we thank you, we would point out that the discrepancy which you mentioned is not actually a discrepancy since when the plug was drawn, it was intended that the nose, marked 1.950" should be smaller than the bottom diameter of the thread which was dimensioned 1.990".

However, since the plug is being moulded and not machined there is no objection to these diameters being the same; we have accordingly omitted the dimension given on the plug nose in one view, and have shown the figure of 1.990" diameter for both the nose and thread bottom diameter in the other view.

With regard to the length of thread we agree that a dimension has been omitted - we have now given a figure of 1.250" from the top of the plug to the lowest point of the thread - new print enclosed will illustrate this point.

We are accordingly sending you a new up-to-date print of EW.1665 and trust that this clears up the points in your letter.

With regard to the radial location of the start of the thread, and the embossing (not engraving as stated by you) on the top of the cap, you are quite right in assuming that this is not important.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
