46613 Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} -- BY9/ BY9/H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} 26.8.26. 20 H.P. SCUTTLE ISOLATION. I attach hereto the original note from West WitteringHenry Royce's home town reference Bv1.14.8.26, also original memo Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}1/Bl. 23.8.26. This matter has been discussed betwixt yourself and Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} and Sales previously. We believe your attitude is that the present scheme of semi-isolation between dashboard and scuttle, (with the instrument board fixed rigidly to the scuttle by means of sheet metal supports of adequate dimensions, connection between the dashboard and the instrument board being maintained by the existing brackets, but one only being used, namely the one in line with the steering column, and the instrument board and steering column fixed together at the point where this bracket fastens to the instrument board,) is a better proposal than the proposed modification, in as much as it is stiffer. It would appear there is a distinct disadvantage in the proposed spaced method of fixing the column to the dashboard, so far as the present column is concerned, but that it is passable when a stiffer type column comes in at "K" Series. We therefore find ourselves in agreement with your proposal that we should continue as we are. We would like you to write Sales and Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} to this effect, as you have more evidence than ourselves on the subject. BY.{R.W.
