X2677 Experimental Dept. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Ru.S/KT. August 28th 1933. The S.U. Company Ltd, East Works, Bordesley Green Road, Adderley Park, B'ham. Dear Sirs, We have come up against inconsistency in the operation of your petrol pumps. We have received the following report from our tester in France:- "One of the S.U. pumps brought out was faulty in delivery. Upon examining it we found the following:- "The diaphragm was set 3 1/4 turns back instead of 3. "Both valves were leaking; one could blow through them fairly easily in the closed position. "The contact arrangement was lopsided, and only one point making contact. "We have thoroughly washed the valve chamber out and the valves are almost O.K." We do not know what tests you give these pumps, but it seems wrong that they can be sent out with these errors. Possibly those we had were rushed through for some reason. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
