Instructions for inspecting and setting up No.10 Unit (14.B.V.) prior to fitting in a chassis.

...III NO.10 UNIT (14.B.V.)

We are returning the above unit for the following, after which it is to be fitted in 14.B.V. chassis.

(1) Remove lower half and examine cap half main bearings J-layer.
Oil pressure test before refitting lower half.

(2) Slight leak past rear main bearing at high speed. Check whether joint washer is in position, also rear end retaining washers are O.K. and felt.

(3) Remove cylinder head and exhaust valves only, to check whether any cracks in exhaust seats.

(4) RM{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/RC.{R. Childs} to make governor conform to the following curve:-

Engine RPM. 500, 1000, 1500, 2000, 2500, 3000, 3500.
Flywheel adv. 2° 6° 10° 13° 16° 20° 23°.

The above should have the usual limit of 1° either side.

The above is for an initial setting of 4° before TDC which should be marked on the flywheel R.A.1.
