X1029 Exptl. Dept. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/AFM.{Anthony F. Martindale}18/KW. Your Ref: AF/AL. 17th July, 1936. Messrs. New-Hudson Ltd., Ikenield St.{Capt. P. R. Strong}, Birmingham 18. For the attention of Mr. Frazer. Dear Sirs, In reply to your letter of 15th July. We regret we are unable to machine the swivel pin holes on Saturday as you suggest. The object of sending the axle to us was to get these holes jig drilled. The machine doing this operation is in a very large machine shop which will be closed, and it is impossible for us to open it to run one machine. The operation is not even a standard one, and the machinist will require much explanation and the assistance of a Foreman to do the job at all. We shall therefore have to wait till the third week in August for this assembly. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
