LUCAS DYNAMOS. X 30146

With reference to EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}21/H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} 30.4.24. we think the statement to the effect that Paris have found a loss of 40 to 50% of output on Lucas Dynamos indicates a serious misconception of the facts, as such a loss makes the dynamo absolutely impossible.

We are more inclined to think that possibly they are confusing the lower output when the dynamo gets hot with a loss by poor insulation.

I do not propose to write anything in this connection to Messrs Lucas until we have some concrete facts to go upon.

Will you therefore kindly arrange, if a Lucas Dynamo or two is not available for changeover purposes at Paris, that a couple of dynamos are supplied with the instruction that they fit the two dynamos in place of dynamos which show the characteristic faults they refer to, and return the latter to us, marked specially for my attention.

To write to Messrs Lucas and ask them whether they insulate their dynamos properly or not is obviously impracticable, as their whole business is based upon their doing such a thing thoroughly well.
