R.R. .235a (100 T) N.S.G. 643, 19-2-20 G 2618 C o p y From:- Development Supts.Office. ASTON CROSS. To:- Managing Director (Commercial) Wheel Works. COVENTRY. Dated 8th May. 1920. Dict. 5th " " WB{Mr Brazier/Mr Bell}/GG. Subject. - Re straight-sided Tyres & Rims proposed test by Rolls Royce Ltd. Thanks for yours of the 1st inst. and such a test would, we think, be useful. Presumably you are prepared to attend to the wheel part if we deal with the tyres, and perhaps the best plan now is for you to inform them that we are much obliged to them for the opportunity offered, and send us your order or request for the tyres in due course. It should, however, be made perfectly clear to the Rolls Royce Co. that the tyres they will test will be of a more or less experimental nature, and not necessarily in the final form we shall adopt for the commercial product. We have a number of tests already in process and of course make improvements in the manufacture from time to time, as may be indicated by the results. If you think any good purpose will be served by it, perhaps you would arrange for the writer to have a discussion with them on the subject as we should be much interested in comparing the results of the Rolls Royce test with those we are at present running on our own test fleet.
