-5- Std. Cooling System. Radiator. If completely new design is in question at least 6 radiators should be built and run, so that a minimum total mileage of 180,000 is covered. If new plating methods or materials are employed, at least 2 radiators must be in service for not less than a year, without signs of deterioration. Fans and Belts. At least 3 fans to cover a minimum of 30,000 miles each. Fan not to need re-packing under 20,000. Alternatively rig tests of fan for time and speed. Belt not to need renewing under 25,000 miles. Water Pump, Connections etc. Water pump endurance similar to fan, circulation to be maintained however, down to 300 engine r.p.m. Water connections to show no sign of deterioration after 30,000 miles and one year's running. Bonnet. No signs of rusting or corrosion on steel bonnets after 30,000 miles and one year's running. No defects on steel or aluminium bonnets such as indentations of rest strip, knocks, squeaking or binding of hinges. Heaters, Thermometers, Demisters. Heaters and Demisters to operate satisfactorily for at least six months, including winter months on at least three cars. Thermometers, six to cover 30,000 miles each, three to be in service not less than one year. | ||
