BP. c. to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X18/2a. D/BP/N3/B19.1.29. We herewith give you an extract from Air Ministry letter reference 340252/28 relative to E.1.(b) type engines. "In reply to your letter, subject and reference as above, dated 19th ultimo, I am directed to state that the Sparking Plugs required at Northolt could have been obtained with little delay by a telephone message to E.I.B. Air Ministry. In order to avoid complications in accounting for Spares issued in connection with contracts, it is requested that in future this method by resorted to before issuing spares which are chargeable to Air Ministry, to other contractors." Will you kindly instruct all your mechanics who are at present stationed at Air Stations or contractors, working on Air Ministry D.of E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} engines, that they are to requisition all replacement parts including Sparking Plugs, from No. 4 Stores Depot. If it is found that No. 4 Stores Depot cannot supply, then we can consider the advisability of sending direct from Derby. We must, however, give No. 4 Stores Depot the first opportunity to supply.
