6119. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Am. c. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst. E/JNR.{Charles L. Jenner}1/HP.12.11.35. re Phantom 3 Ignition Governor and Distributor. We have examined the above pieces after 20,000 miles in France. The governor is in a bad state, almost worn out, mostly due to lack of lubrication, also the cam spindle is worn and covered with rust. There is evidence that the head has received ample oil, but it has not got to the moving parts of the governor, etc. This is to confirm that Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst. will run a test on the bench to ascertain what is happening before we re-design any of the mechanism. In regard to the wear on the contact breaker pads, this we think was due to the lubricating pad being fitted with the wrong material. Felt is no good for this particular lubricating device. It is essential that a cotton wick should be fitted. R.S. 15 ST MAR 1936 E/JNR.{Charles L. Jenner} Can we do this test? Rig in progress in millwrights dpt. RH{R. Hollingworth} WSR | ||
