Y6119 PHANTOM III ENGINE TIMING. (1) Both contact breaker gaps should be set to the limits .028" to .030". (2) Terming the fixed contact breaker assembly (A), the movable contact breaker assembly (B), then by means of a disc marked in degress, fitting over the outer spigot of distributor head, a pointer clipped on to the rotor blade, a lamp and a battery connected in series with the contact breakers, the degree of break between (A) & (B) can be obtained, which should be 30 degrees with a limit of plus or minus one degree. If this figure is too high then (B) should be moved in an anti-clockwise direction, and in a clockwise direction when too low. Note. Test (2) should be carried out on the bench before the distributor head is mounted on the engine. (3) The engine should then be timed as follows :- B side distributor, hand control advanced ignition setting, 15º before A1 T.D.C. A side distributor, hand control advanced ignition setting, 13º before A1 T.D.C. | ||
