To DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Copy to CJ. EFC. ORIGINAL. 3 E2/G24/12/19. 29 DEC 1919 RE ELECTRICAL STARTER SWITCH. 40/50 H.P. AMERICAN CHASSIS. X.3757 We send you herewith drawing No. Lec.1174 showing the above. The motoring and main switches have been arranged as you will see, side by side on a common base, and are pivot operated by cams on a shaft which is made to move through a large angle. The mechanism is made double acting so that if the switches fail to come off by their own spring pressure, the cams will perform this operation. Lec.1174 actually shews the main switch nearer to the centre line of the chassis than the motoring switch. Would you kindly have this changed round during the detailing operations, so that the main contact arm is nearer the outside of the chassis. The idea is to make the more important part of the mechanism as accessible as possible for adjustment. We shall in due course send schemes shewing the interconnection of the switch with the starter pedal shaft, and the sliding pinion movement. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} | ||
