P.III GEARBOX.

We wrote to Br.{T. E. Bellringer - Repair Manager} the other day to ask what was the trouble with the gearbox on Lord Vestey's car - 3-BT{Capt. J. S. Burt - Engineer}-87. The trouble was due to seizure of the pivot bearing bush. This bush does not receive any direct lubri-cation below a propeller shaft speed equivalent to 30 MPH. If, after standing still at the Coachbuilders for a long time the engine is run without the back wheels turning, siezure of this bush may result.

We shall be glad if you will let us know what sort of running the gearbox gets before the car finally goes to the customer, and we would also ask you to avoid much running of the engine unless the car is on the road.
