Copy From: ELLIOTT BROTHERS (LONDON) LTD Century Works, Lewisham LONDON S.E.13 AHA/FMC ROYB/G27.1.25 24th February 1925 Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd. DERBY Dear Sirs, Elliott Ammeter - X.4622 With reference to your letter of the 27th ultimo on the above subject, we beg to point out that so far as we can see the Zero Corrector on our Instrument is identical with that on the Weston and the method of fixing is practically the same, therefore, we are rather at a loss to understand your complaint and should be glad to hear further from you on this point before putting in hand another trial Instrument. Regarding the statement made that the cracking of the glass has apparently lead to another fault by which the Instrument needle jams against the small tag supporting the control spring, we do not think that this is at all likely to happen in our latest pattern Instrument, owing to the fact that there is quite a different bend on the pointer and as a consequence very much greater clearance. Should we submit a further Instrument for trial and same proves satisfactory, we presume that there would be some prospect of an order being placed with us, providing of course, our price is competitive. We raise this question because we notice in your report a remark which seems to infer that even if we produced to your satisfaction an Instrument of comparable quality and price with the Weston Instrument, ours would only be considered as a second string. We think, therefore, you will quite appreciate our doubt as to whether under such circumstances, it would be worth going to the expense of submitting a further instrument to prolonged test. We are, dear Sirs, Yours faithfully, For ELLIOTT BROTHERS (LONDON) LIMITED A.H.Attwood (sgd) ENCLOSURE No 567 dusted | ||
