X3458 Re Lubrication of Rear Axle Brake Mechanism. X 3614 X 840 With reference to EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}14/F29.1.20, in discussing this matter with Mr. Olley, and from consideration of the correspondence on the subject, my impression was that America was complaining that the means for lubrication were ineffective, and not that lubrication was not required. I think this agrees with our own experience and points to the necessity for these parts to have proper care and attention in the running of a car, as far as the present design is concerned. We think that some benefit might be obtained by the use of one or other of the types of oilless bearings (impregnated graphite bearings) and samples of these bearings were sent to Mr. Royce some time ago with this in view. I do not think we can do more with the present design than give these parts proper care and attention as regards cleaning and lubrication. Bn.{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} [Signature] | ||
