LUBRICATION OF REAR AXLE BRAKE MECHANISM. -------------------------------------- I have noted yours ref. Bn{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington}6/W11.2.20. The question of attention being given to the lubrication of the rear axle is a point upon which we have laid stress for a considerable time. Special requests have been made that this should be impressed upon in the Instruction Book. We still, however, have trouble with cars coming in for repair and cars in service on which the actuating shafts have seized up owing to the lubrication not being satisfactory. I am anxious, therefore, that we should consider some improvement in this respect, and my suggestion is that larger oil feed lubricators should be fitted which should have a slight head so that there is a continual oil feed to the bearings. This I think could be done fairly simply, and without any drastic alteration in design. EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} | ||
