Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/CTS.{C. Trot Salt - Carburation}16/JH. 15th. January, 1940.

The Light Production Co.Ltd.,
60/66 Rochester Row,
Westminster,
LONDON. S.W.1.

For the attention of Mr. Riley.

Dear Sirs,

We thank you for your letter dated 10th. January, concerning special pistons.

You are producing various types of piston to have a flat top "high crown", and we have previously asked for .070" to be the amount to raise the crown. We can now specify that all the "high crown" pistons at present on order should have 2.300" as the dimension from the centre of the gudgeon pin to the flat crown of the piston.

This refers to P.466; EB.3916; and PL.78.

With reference to the piston with scraper ring deleted, this should have the normal 'L' section ring fitted in place of the scraper, and the two remaining rings to be normal gas rings.

We should be glad to have your revised piece number for all these pistons, for reference and indentification.

Yours faithfully,
FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
