1256 EXPERIMENTAL DEPT. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/CTS.{C. Trot Salt - Carburation}2/BA. 8th. January, 1940. The Light Production Co.Ltd., 60/66bRochester Row, WESTMINSTER.S.W.1. Dear Mr. Brooks, Many thanks for your letter dated 4th. January. We note your remarks with due satisfaction regarding the 75 m/m pistons. We cannot give you any indication of power figures in connection with this job, but would rather you considered it to be of little importance, and so give us a nice light job. Some time ago, you were going to look into the possibility of lightening our 3.500" bore piston. We mentioned this in our last letter, and would be glad to have your suggestions. The position regarding the 'L' ring at the present time is as follows - We have a stock of rings with reduced 'L' sectioning supplied by you, and these are being tested. The normal standard 'L' ring, which you fit to our latest Bentley piston is very good, so there is no fundamental reason for changing the present production specification. As we get a little more experience with this ring we will let you know the result. Referring again to the 75 m/m piston, we would like you to proceed and submit a revises drawing. We can then send you an order to cover, say 24 piston. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
