X. No. WATER OUTLET CONNECTIONS WITH RUBBER JOINT FIXED DIRECT.
2170 & 2122.

We have had a set of these for the Falcon and for the Eagle engines.

On the Falcon we save 1/2 lb. in weight per engine.

On the Eagle we save 1/2 lb. in weight per engine.

At present the new castings are not machined except just for the screw thread. We should save weight if the end which takes the rubber connection was also machined.

We cannot see any reason, or find out the reason why the Falcon and Eagle water outlets are screwed, one on the inside and the other on the outside.

We are sending a pair to Mr Royce, because there appears to be no reason why the same scheme should not be used for both engines.

As regards welding, the Falcon type makes the easiest and neatest job. It is, however, slightly heavier.

We recommend that these connections should be used as soon as possible. As soon as convenient one connection should be made to suit both engines.

EH.
