With reference to the clutch instructions, there is no need at present to alter the instruction book, unless the following causes some changes. I should like Mr. Haldenby and Mr. Platford to confirm the fact that occasionally it is advisable to wash the clutch out with parafin. I have never needed this within my experience of cars, and have seen no reason for doing so, and if there is no particular reason I should fear that it would be just the sort of thing to make the clutch very harsh for some long time The collective experience at the Works must be greater than my experience. I would therefore like it confirmed. Another point I should like confirmed is that if too much oil is put in the clutch, my impression is that the clutch will not stop and therefore it is difricult to get the gears in, the clutch being carried round by the oil, but I have never known a large amount of oil to cause the clutch to slip seriously. I should think this is especially unlikely, particularly with the fabric clutch. I think it is unwise to say this, unless it is a fact that it does make the clutch slip, as it would have the effect of preventing a sufficient amount of oil being used | ||
