#3 To R.{Sir Henry Royce} from Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Copy to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} HY.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} re Diamond Mounting. The above has now been fitted to 56-GN - (the car I use) - and I have had an opportunity of giving it a good run. It appears to have improved the torque reaction vibrations at the lower speeds. It is also very good in regard to the elimination of the rear, noise and fuss at speeds between 50 and 60 which on this car were so very bad until the modification of removing the rear engine feet was made. The springing has now been put back where it was before I went to France, i.e. low rating springs with shock absorbers not specially set for Continental conditions. You will remember that when you came to London some few weeks ago I sent the car to the station to meet you and you criticised it on certain points, and as the above work has been carried out since then, I will try to arrange to send it to the station on Thursday if, as I assume, you are coming up for the Board Meeting on that day.
