Coil temperature tests on standard 22 SWG primary coil NO R-4-MX.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer}
We have now completed two tests on a representative standard coil to ascertain the maximum working temperature under extremely abnormal conditions, although likely conditions.
Test 1 consisted of running the coil, connected up to a distributor in the normal way but under the following conditions:-
(a) Volts across the system - 18.0.
(b) Distributor make ratio - .750.
(c) Ballast of 1 1/2 value
(d) Ambient temperature - 100°C
(e) Distributor speed - 500 r.p.m.
