X35D F.T. HARDY. [Struck through text:] Du. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Py Mr. He/RM.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} SFT{Mr Swift}/WNV.2/IR.21.8.36. PHANTOM III STEERING. Ref. Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}2/HP.17.8.36. With reference to the fitting of stops to the Ph.III steering, we do not think the steel pillars supporting the radiator bracket would provide a very accessible place for adjustment either by filing or screws. We should prefer having these stops adjacent to the axle pivot, this position would enable the adjustment for lock to be made during the bench assembly or after erection. As regards provision for easy adjustment for the lengths of the side and cross steering tubes, we should prefer that both were treated in this way. The saving would be appreciable and the non-interference with the progress of assembling and erection would be very acceptable. sft.{Mr Swift} [Signature] | ||
