We received no reply to this memo, but upon my next visit, Ey. stated he had been busy, and had not had the time to answer my memo. He told me definitely that it would be unwise to fit any other than the type of piston taken out of the engine, and that I should instruct Kingsbury to that effect, also the he (By) would give the necessary instructions to the Works.

I enquired of Hd.{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy} whether he was fitting the new type piston and his reply was he knew nothing about them, and what I told him was the experience we had had at Kingsbury. I did not state or give any instructions that the new type piston was to be supplied.

With the further supply of the new type pistons to Kingsbury, after Ey. promised to inform the Works not to do so, I took the matter up with RHC{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer}, who sent Mr Samson down to investigate the question of supplies generally.

My last memo regarding the piston was after a further supply of the new type had arrived at the Kingsbury Depot.

To sum up, Kingsbury want to do the right thing and whether the tight fitting piston is fitted or not is not their query. All that Kingsbury ask is for the piston position, so far as it effects them on repairs to be cleared up.

This piston question has been going on for some months and has really been brought to a head by the reception of the three months supply.
