<underline>'R' ENGINES FOR MOTOR BOAT.</underline>

The question was raised that arrangements should be made to have a spare engine available for the motor boat.

It was suggested that the engine which the Ministry are going to loan us for development tests, should after those tests be put into first class condition and be available for spare. The Air Ministry sanction will have to be obtained for this.

Sir Henry Segrave pointed out that he was not committed to use and oil, petrol, or accessories from any special firm. On conditions, however, that we agreed, he would like preference being given to :-

(1) Wakefield's oil.
(2) B.P. petrol.
(3) K.L.G. plugs.

It was agreed that we should test these parts and let Sir Henry Segrave know the result.

When we have the 'R' engine on the bed and are running development tests in connection with these engines for the boat, Sir Henry will visit Derby and see the engine running.
