With regard to the re-designing of the rear tank, it would greatly help us if a central baffle could be used and our unit could be incorporated as part of the central tank vent. The size of the compartment at one side of which our unit would be situated to be, if possible, not less than 10-12 inches. This will give us ample surge for vigorous pumping, and our unit will be placed ideally in the tank from a depth measurement point of view. You will recollect that we are somewhat off centre now, which is a slight disadvantage from one side of the road camber to the other.

The Sprengel pumping tubes can easily be arranged to deliver external air, and we have already tested this feature in our rig here, and they pump satisfactorily with the air tube extensions.

It would be very interesting if we could easily obtain the design of vent and tank unit carrier, as fitted to the American car which Mr. Olley called here with, as this would give us much information with regard to the necessary areas, the only real modification being the projection of the Sprengel pumping tubes to atmosphere. Of course if it is impossible to arrange our unit against a central baffle incorporated in the central vent, then we must make other arrangements in the existing position.
