X.8620. EAD.II. STARTER MOTOR.

Would you kindly instruct for one armature to be made up experimentally with armature conductors of smaller cross section (about 4/5ths) than those at present instructed, and the depth of the slots reduced accordingly, the width of the slots of course remaining the same.

At present the throttling of the armature flux at the bottom of the teeth is rather pronounced, and since we have in any case departed from the original calculations in respect of giving 6 1/2 turns per pole on the field in place of 4 1/2, it would be in line with this also to try the effect of reducing the section of the armature conductors.

EFC.
