To EY. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} c. to RG.{Mr Rowledge} X235 DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}4/ML.2.27. DAMPER IN STEERING. X. 8431 X. 235 We send herewith N.sch.2356, on which is shewn a proposal for cutting out the shock damper on extreme locks so as to facilitate shunting. It will be seen that it consists merely of bye-passes opening by the piston, causing the shock damper to work under pressure only over a range of about 8 or 10° in the middle, the assumption being that steering wobbles occur almost exclusively when the car is going straight. We are passing this suggestion on to R.{Sir Henry Royce} and in the meanwhile you may like to test it. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
