BENSPORT EXHAUST SYSTEM.

We can now release the exhaust system for the first fifteen Bentley cars. This is as follows :-

(1) Downtake resonance chamber and intermediate pipe to Lec.3430. All this is to be lagged with asbestos.

(2) Front resonance chamber to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}976 except that the front end is altered to suit the oval intermediate pipe as shown on Lec.3450, and the 5/16" dia. holes shown in the inner pipe are altered to .375" diam. (In addition the length of the chamber is shortened to suit the cut-out to Lec.3441-3453.)

(3) Cut out and controls to Lec.3441-3453.

(4) Rear Resonance chamber to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}977 except that the inner pipe is deleted entirely. Suspension as on Lec.3415.

(5) Tail pipe as on Lec.3415 except that it is made from 2 1/4" dia. round pipe, i.e. as intermediate pipe. The rear support should be a band round the pipe; we prefer it to the stud passing through the pipe.

(6) Material, S/M :- .080" material (14 gauge) is to be used throughout -

(7) For easy erection it is necessary to have two flanged joints, one at the front end of the first expansion box and one to make the tail pipe to rear expansion box joint.
