You will see from the attached report that whilst we continue to improve on oil coolers, they are still likely to be an unreliable portion of the car's equipment. As soon as we can use Hall's Metal Big-end Bearings we can get rid of the oil coolers. We should like to suggest that as soon as the 12 sets which are on order have been fitted up on cars and passed for test without any trouble, we should standardise this bearing. We believe that the Test Bed running has proved their durability, and that the information we have been waiting for is that they can be manufactured and fitted up without any difficulty. So far these bearings have been fitted to 36-EX, 33-EX, 32-EX and Paris Trials Car - No. also to one Test Bed engine. 33-EX and 36-EX have both successfully gone through their road tests in the Repair Dept.
