Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}1/T. 22nd August, 1941. Squadron-Leader SPIC, Central Landing Establishment, Royal Air Force, R I N G W A Y. Dear Sir, Further to our letter of 14th May (ref.Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}6/T), the designs for the launching winch are now virtually completed. Before the winches are manufactured, it will be necessary to make detail drawings from the designs. We are some three weeks late with our promise, owing to pressure of work on other M.A.P. requirements having high priority. For the same reason we shall have some difficulty in providing Drawing Office capacity to detail these designs. There are of course absolutely no facilities for manufacturing the winches at Derby. We suggest that you might like to pay us a visit to examine the designs and to discuss what further steps, if any, shall be taken in the matter. We have sent a copy of this letter to Mr. Shackleton of the M.A.P., from whom we obtained instructions to proceed with the designs, in order that he may be "au fait" with the position. He has already had a general Layout of the winch. Yours faithfully, | ||
